Consider the growing of tomatoes 🍅:
Too much ‘space’
Factory farming
it’s good bc it can feed people at scale, control for bad bacteria, conserve water, but it’s bad bc it is sterile, you must have your nutrient proportions exact, and errors harm folks at scale
in the place of too much ‘space’ you must have things correct (hence the tendency toward totalitarianism)
Too much ‘time’
growing in the wild
the place of too much ‘time’ is foraging. notice it is ‘vine’ only (no ‘vine’ on a ‘pole’ which we see below, and bronze serpent, cross, etc…)
good: you have local nutrients, it is robust, “clean eating”
bad: it cannot feed folks at scale, and it introduces confusion, like:
^ is this a tomato? maybe, maybe it is “poisonous”?
this is similar to Esau being a hunter for his food (it’s foreign) vs raising your food yourself (as a shepherd, Jacob)
ok, so those are the extremes, and both have trade-offs (not completely good or bad, obv)
Meta-Space (‘space’ adorned by ‘time’)
^ benefit from the local environment, proper ecosystem benefits, still growing at some scale
Snake on the pole
if you are going to live in the world of ‘time’ and forage for your food, you will need a tradition to guide you and practices of Initiation
